Well, the nightmare is finally over. Hopefully with the debut of Glo 1, we will not need to pass you road again

-----------

Suburban Telecom, operators of SAT3 submarine fibre cable, said it has restored internet and international services connectivity on the damaged cable which occurred a few weeks ago.

It’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Bruce Ayonote, said: "We are extremely pleased to be restoring services to our customers.

‘’ While we have always understood the importance of the services we are providing to the Nigerian market, we were extremely disappointed that our customers had to experience this unfortunate outage with little recourse, in terms of an alternative solution.

‘’Providing critical international connectivity solutions, means you need to be able to offer your customers a network that is never disrupted and is available as close to 100% of the time as possible. While this currently remains a challenge in Nigeria due to the fact we only have one active submarine cable, we will continue to work with our customers to develop market specific solutions that come as close to this objective as possible."

Mr. Ayonote applauded the efforts of the SAT3 administrator, who were responsible for the restoration, for working with all stake holders to bring the outage to an end.

He said fiber cuts and service interruptions are a reality in the provision of telecommunications services and service providers require the right level of support to ensure these outages are minimized. Mr. Ayonote commented that he believes the right level of support was provided by the SAT3 administrator

With the restoration, internet users in Nigeria can now breathe a sigh of relief as they will soon be receiving the high speed internet services they have become accustomed to from Nigeria’s mobile operators and ISPs.

Suburban West Africa, the premier supplier of internet backbone services to Nigeria’s major providers of internet solutions announced that the service interruption it experienced on its network due to the fiber optic cable cut that occurred on the SAT3 submarine cable has now been restored.

The restored cable cut not only impacts internet connectivity but international data services as well. Multinational corporations who need to exchange data with their branch offices in Nigeria have also had their services which rely on the Suburban network restored. The impact of the restoration will be felt by users over the course of the week as service providers move their data traffic back to their primary connections which run on the Suburban network due to the volume of bandwidth the Suburban network offers compared to their backup solutions.
